WHAT DOES A SOUS CHEF DO?

As a sous chef in a gourmet restaurant, you have a lot of responsibility for the smooth running of the kitchen. You will assist the chef in organizing, planning and executing the culinary offerings and take charge of the kitchen team in his absence.

WHAT ARE YOUR TASKS?

One of your most important tasks as a Sous Chef is to coordinate the various work processes in the kitchen. You make sure that all preparations are done on time and that the kitchen team is ready to work at any time. You will work closely with the headchef and communicate regularly on the progress of the work. Another important area of responsibility is quality control. You make sure that all dishes meet the high standards of the gourmet restaurant and that hygiene regulations are observed. You check the ingredients for freshness and quality and make sure that the dishes are always perfectly prepared. You’ll work closely with the chef to create new and innovative dishes and keep surprising guests. The selection of ingredients and the pricing of the dishes are also part of your duties.

WHEN CAN I BECOME A SOUS CHEF?
