Cordo Berlin reinvents itself

The Cordo restaurant in Berlin, once known as a pioneering wine bar and meeting place for the Berlin scene, will close its doors on December 31, 2023. However, this is not the end, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter. After five successful years under the management of Yannic Stockhausen, who has been awarded a Michelin star and the Green Star for sustainability for his outstanding cuisine, the Cordo is now facing a significant change.

Originally opened as a “Cordobar”, the restaurant has developed into a Michelin-starred restaurant since November 2018 and is known for its modern and creative cuisine. Under the management of patron Gerhard Retter, the Cordo has developed into a place where the focus is on exquisite star cuisine without losing its characteristic bar character.

Yannic Stockhausen, an up-and-coming talent in the culinary world, has made a decisive contribution to the success of Cordo. He came directly from the three-star restaurant Aqua in Wolfsburg and brought with him his experience from the two-star Haerlin in Hamburg and the Manoir de Rétival in Normandy. This impressive career was reflected in the Cordo’s innovative menus, which ranged from three to eight courses.

The new Cordo concept, developed by Gerhard Retter and his team, promises to further revolutionize the culinary experience. With a focus on biodynamic and organic wines and a menu that includes both a smaller four-course option and a large tasting menu, it is clear that food and wine will continue to play a central role.
